How To Buy A Silencer

How to Buy a Suppressor

Since 1934 suppressors have been regulated by the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) and require a tax stamp and approval before they can be purchased by a civilian. While there are extra steps to owning these accessories, it is straightforward.

Here are steps to purchasing a suppressor:

1) Choose your suppressor

Choose your desired suppressor to begin the registration process below.

2) Contact us

Before purchasing your tax stamp and submitting the Form 4 to the ATF, we must possess your suppressor. We are your local SOT-licensed dealer and work with Dead Air Armament, Yankee Hill Machine Company, Griffin Armament, Surefire, Gemtech and Huxwrks to name a few and order your suppressor.

3) Choose registration type

There are two ways to register your suppressor, as an individual or a trust. You must know how you would like to register your suppressor before filing the Form 4.

Individual

An individual registration allows you to solely own and possess the suppressor. This registration type does not allow the suppressor to be operated without the owner present. There is no prior setup needed to register as an individual on a Form 4. This is the most common registration type for suppressors.

Trust

Registering a suppressor with a trust allows you to own and operate the suppressor, along with any responsible persons listed in the trust. There are costs and setup required for a trust. Setting up a trust must happen at least 24 to 48 hours before uploading to the ATF on form 4. All members of the trust will need to be fingerprinted and listed on the trust.

4) Set up your ATF Eforms account

You will need to set up your ATF Eforms account. You will use the pin you create and user name which will be emailed to you by the ATF, to certify your Eform 4. This will also be the account that lists your NFA items once transferred to you. Click here to start.

5) Make a 1 hour appointment with us

A one hour appointment is all it takes! All appointments are one on one! No waiting on other customers or for us to make time for you. Your appointment is your appointment. You however may feel free to bring your friends or anyone else you wish. We will begin by filling out the new customer forms, your fingerprints will be completed and your picture taken. We will then upload it all to the ATF site.

6) Wait for approval from ATF

Now that your suppressor is on hold with us, the tax stamp is bought, and the Form 4 is filed now you will wait for approval from the ATF to pick up your new suppressor. Your approval will be emailed to you and to us by the ATF at the same time. So no need to worry that a approve comes back and you're not being notified

We are seeing wait times at less than one week at this time sometimes in as little as one working day

7) Pick up your suppressor

Once you have been approved by the ATF your new suppressor will be ready to be picked up from the dealer and enjoyed! This takes 15 minutes. We will need to do a 4473 for the transfer, However the background check will already have been completed so no more waiting.

Please be sure to bring your drivers license or state ID and be sure the address matches and is current.
